How to Choose the Right Sticker Size

Stickers are one of the easiest ways to promote a brand or add some personality — but picking the right size makes a big difference. Too small and your design gets lost; too big and it won't fit where you want it. Here's how to choose.

Start with where it's going

The surface is your best guide. Some common spots and sizes that work well:

  • Laptops & water bottles: 2"–3" — big enough to see, small enough to sit next to others.
  • Phone cases, planners, envelopes: 1.5"–2.5".
  • Car windows & bumpers: 4"–6" so it reads from a distance.
  • Packaging & boxes: 2"–3" for logos; larger if it's the main label.
  • Storefront windows or walls: 6"+ for real visibility.

Think about your design

  • Lots of detail or small text? Size up. If text gets smaller than about 1/8 inch, it becomes hard to read.
  • Simple logo or icon? You can go smaller and it will still look crisp.
  • Long or wide shapes (like a horizontal logo) are measured by their longest side.

Consider viewing distance

The farther away people will see it, the bigger it should be. A laptop sticker is seen up close; a car decal is seen from across a parking lot.

A simple rule of thumb

When in doubt, go one size up. A slightly larger sticker almost always looks better and reads more clearly than one that's a touch too small.
